United Transformation Party(UTM) Northern Regional Governor Leonard Njikho has announced his resignation from the party with immediate effect.

Njikho has however not stated the reasons why he has decided to resign from the party barely a Month after the June 23, Fresh Election victory which saw UTM together with other 8 political parties in the country emerge winners of the historic Presidential Fresh elections.

In his What’s up post purportedly from a UTM group which is circulating on social media Njikho confirmed the rumours that has recently been circulating on such media about his resignation.

Said he, “today I can confirm rumours that were going round that I have resigned my position as Regional Governor for  Northern Region”

Njikho said it was going to be against the prescribed ethics and protocol if he had announced his resignation before informing UTM Secretariat.

He has since thanked the Party President Dr. Saulos Chilima for this support describing him as his mentor and role model.

“Let me at this point thank my President Dr SKC for the support he gave me during my tenure of office. He assisted, supported and guided me very well in everything that needed his intervention” said he.

Njikho has however made it clear that he remains a UTM member.

“As for me, I am leaving my position a happy person and I am ready to work with any leadership that the party will constitute and I remain an obedient supporter of UTM and Dr Chilima” said he.

Meanwhile the Part is yet to respond to the development.
