The Lilongwe High Court has announced that an inter-party hearing of civil case no 2 of 2020 between Frank Kauyokwa and 185 others against defendant Malawi Electoral Commission will be held on 27th April,2020.
According to court documents the claimant wants all seats of legislators to the Malawi Parliament be declared vacant and all members of Parliament elected during the May tripartite elections be deemed not to have been duly elected.
This is the second that a case of this nature has been bought before the court since the High court sitting as a Constitution Court nullified the May 19, 2019 presidential election.
The first unsuccessful attempt which was bought to the court by former Members of Parliament who lost the May 19, 2019 Parliamentary election was dismissed by the Zomba High court.
