Health workers at Nsanje District Hospital are on sit-in starting from Monday in order to force government supply personal protective equipment (PPE) in the awake of COVID-19 disease.

A visit by Generation Times (GT) to the facility on Monday, confirmed that most workers were sitting under trees leaving both out and admitted patients unattended to.

Speaking to GT on condition of anonymity, one of the health workers at the facility said the strike will continue up to Friday this week unless government responds to their concerns.

Nsanje District Hospital’s Spokesperson, Stanley Chilumbu says he cannot comment on the matter as he was on holiday referred to the District Health Officer ( DHO) who did not pick up his mobile despite several attempts.

During a press briefing at Nsanje District Hospital on Tuesday,  DHO said the Ministry of Health is yet to supply personal protective equipment at the hospital
