Chiefs in the country said are geared to assist government in disseminating information concerning Corona virus pandemic.
Speaking in an interview, Traditional Authorities Malemia and Nazombe of Nsanje and Phalombe respectively said they have already started civic educating people in their respective areas concerning COVID-19.
Recently, President Peter Mutharika declared the nation a state of disaster due to COVID-19.
In an interview with Generation Times Traditional Authority Nazombe of Phalombe district said she has already started sensitizing people in her area concerning the pandemic.
The chief said she has established committees to disseminate and implement precautionary measures set by the government and the ministry of health in order to awake their communities.
She has since appealed to people in the country to follow the preventive measures set, in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
Conquering with Traditional Authority Nazombe, Traditional Authority Malemia of Nsanje district said currently he has banned all activities that can bring together over 100 people in his area.
T/A Malemia said he also had a meeting with District Council officials to discuss on how they can spread the message of COVID-19.
The government called for social distance, a ban on activities that can attract over 100 people among others.
Recently the government called on various stakeholder to stop disseminating COVID-19 information if they are not properly equipped to avoid misinformation the citizens.
Malawi is amongst few countries in the world that have not yet registered any case of Coronavirus.
