The issue of the deported foreign national Chandrashekar More is important in setting the precedent in the fight against corruption, tax evasion and other law noncompliance among investors. The Generation Times has moved to dig dipper on the matters and zoom on the legal representative of Chandrashekar More “Mr Neelkanth Dnyaneshwar Aher”
We are meant to understand that legal representative of Chandrashekar More is a barrister. Well a barrister is a person called to the bar and entitled to practise as an advocate, particularly in the higher courts. Some scholars have described a barrister as “a type of lawyer in common law jurisdictions. Barristers mostly specialise in courtroom advocacy and litigation. Their tasks include taking cases in superior courts and tribunals, drafting legal pleadings, researching the philosophy, hypothesis and history of law, and giving expert legal opinions.”
Chandrashekar More was charged of tax evasion, jumped bail and finally escaped to India, this alone raises the interest to also look at who is his legal representative because at times birds of the same feathers flock together as the adage goes.
Neelkanth Dnyaneshwar Aher is on record to have represented Chandrashekar More in his cases and is intending to come to Malawi on Chandrashekar More matters once. More has the right to legal representation of his choice. That is well and fine.
However Generation Times in depth investigation has shown that Neelkanth Dnyaneshwar Aher is not in the list of barristers or solicitors in United Kingdom as he claims and may be a con lawyer.
A United Kingdom based Contact Centre of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority recently could not find the name Neelkanth Dnyaneshwar Aher in the solicitor roll.
“I am unable to find a solicitor on the roll in the name of that Neelkanth Dnyaneshwar Aher,” said Ian Perry, Customer Services Advisor.
He went on adding that “it may be that Neelkanth Dnyaneshwar Aher is a different type of a lawyer and therefore regulated by another regulators body.”
While Neelkanth Dnyaneshwar Aher may not be a solicitor as confirmed by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority in UK he may be a barrister. However in-depth investigation revealed that Neelkanth Dnyaneshwar Aher is neither a barrister.
Records at the Bar Council in London since 1960s show that there is no barrister by the name of Neelkanth Dnyaneshwar Aher as a barrister of England and Wales.
The law in UK bars a person who has not qualified as a Barrister to use the term barrister at all.
“It is against the law for someone to ( deliberately or wilfully ) pretend to be a barrister when they are not, or to use any name, title or description that makes it seem as though they are a barrister when they are not” said Alex Paynter , the records Assistant of the Bar Council in United Kingdom.
